Aitkin SWCD to Host Forestry Workshop
Certified Forestry Tour on September 8th

(Aitkin, MN) – The Aitkin County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is offering a forestry workshop on Saturday, September 8th. The workshop will be held at the home of Roger Howard starting at 8:30 am.  The workshop will feature a tour of forestry practices and recent logging operations.  

The property was recently certified as part of the SWCD’s Group Forest Certification Program.  The certification confirms that the forest management meets the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an internationally recognized certification program.  Certificates for the landowners who have enrolled in the certification program will be presented the day of the workshop.

Woodland owners in Aitkin County who have a Forest Stewardship Plan are eligible to join the SWCD’s certification program.  Landowners are invited to attend this workshop to learn more.  The workshop is being offered at no cost, with support from the Minnesota Forest Stewardship Program. Space is not limited however we do ask that participants pre-register so we know how many to plan for lunch.
